What to Watch For When Choosing an iPad POS System for Your Business


There are different iPad POS systems on the market and there are a few things you need to consider in order to select the best one for your business!


As you probably know there are so many iPad POS companies out there offering solutions, deals, and packages, and choosing the best one for your business is not that easy.

Even though most iPad POS companies provide service on a monthly basis, there are some that also offer multi-year contracts. So, before you decide to sign a contract with a certain POS service, we recommend you to read the contract in full and be completely sure you understand the terms and conditions you are agreeing to.

You need to pay attention to all costs and fees, term length, the cancellation procedure, the penalties, liquidated damages, and etc. If the POS company you plan to work with, also provide your credit card processing service, we advise you to verify whether or not you have a full contract.


One of the most important things to watch out for when choosing an iPad POS system for your business is the leasing contract or the “free” POS hardware.

Whenever possible, you want to buy all of your POS equipment as it can be less expensive than leasing one. Also, it is much better to purchase than to accept “free” Point of Sale hardware or participate in the so-called – free placement programs offered by the payment processing service. By doing so, you can avoid being locked into a contract that cannot be canceled in the future and this is the type of contract that is offered by many companies. These contracts are not recommendable as if your business company closes, you are the one who is personally responsible to meet and fulfill all responsibilities.


The contracts can be as short as 1 year or as long as 5 years, depending on the iPad POS company. However, most companies offer contracts that are valid for 3 years and after that, they are automatically renewed. If you want to cancel the renewal, you need to inform the company 30 days before the end of the contract.


If you decide to accept free Point of Sale hardware in exchange for signing a contract, our advice to use is to find out whether or not you will own the equipment when the contract ends or if you are required to return the hardware.
